Therapeutic Approach

My approach is primarily influenced by attachment theory, family systems, developmental psychology, emotion based and somatic therapy, as well as Buddhist psychology.

I have received training in AEDP (accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy), the Developmental Model of Couples (Couples Institute), Somatic Experiencing, Attachment Theory (Neufeld Institute), Gottman Method, Satir Family Systems, Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

Therapy sessions will typically include, exploring your attachment and communication styles, and how they play out in your relationships; learning about your needs and boundaries; developing self-awareness and ways to tune into the wisdom of your emotions and somatic experience; helping you regulate your nervous system; and becoming more self-compassionate and connected to your core, authentic self.

When we are disconnected from our emotions, we miss the cues that inform us about our needs and desires, cutting us off from our authentic selves. As my clients develop more awareness about their internal experience, and what they are feeling, they are able to make changes that are more in tune with who they are. This brings them more satisfaction in their lives, and they are able to develop deeper, more genuine relationships with those that they love.

Please connect with me if you are interested, to see whether we are a good fit. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about my approach, or therapeutic process.
